cubic meters of sterilized water for AZZAZ camps in Aleppo Countryside
Recently, BINAA for development in partnership with International Organization for Migration IOM provided AZZAZ camps in Aleppo northern countryside with drinkable water trucks responding to the emergency situation of IDP families there.
The provided sterilized water for camp residents in AZZAZ reached 15 thousand cubic meters per month, especially that water crisis has worsen in Syria in general and in IDP camps in particular.
Khaled (47 years old) camp resident, complained of the high expense of water trucking, as he has to buy water truck every two days for 1000SP which is equivalent to 2.5 USD, which poses uncalculated financial burden in addition to the high living costs for his family of 8 members who live in one tent who suffered a long displacement journey.
What is worth mentioning is that water crisis in IDP camps is not new, as camp residents buy unsterilized water which lack sanitary health conditions, most of which are unattended, and cause diseases such as chronic diarrhea and enteritis.
